Dislocated Worker Program

The Dislocated Worker Program, under Title I of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998, is designed, like the Adult Program, to provide quality employment and training services to assist eligible individuals in finding and qualifying for meaningful employment, and to help employers find the skilled workers they need to compete and succeed in business.

Title I of WIA authorizes "core" services for dislocated individuals including job search and placement assistance, labor market information, initial assessment of skills and needs, information about available services and information about some follow-up services.

In addition to "core" services, Title I of WIA also authorizes "intensive" services that are available to eligible dislocated workers needing additional help to find a new position.  "Intensive" services include development of individual plans, individual and group counseling, case management and short-term pre-vocational services.

Dislocated workers, or individuals who have received notification of either lay off or termination from a place of employment due to reasons beyond his or her control, can seek services similar to those offered in the Adult Program including.  While the services for Adult and Dislocated workers may be the same, Title I of WIA allocated separate funding streams for Dislocated Worker programming.
