Page Content . The Northwest PA Healthcare Industry Partnership (HCIP) supports training, education and workforce development programs in the Northwest region, including Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Warren and Venango counties. Healthcare is one of the top two employers in this area, with over 37,000 workers in the profession (Census Bureau, QWI 2010-2011 average). From 2006-2011, Northwest PA experienced an 8% growth in healthcare sector employment. Last year, HCIP provided training to 440 participants.
HIP Strategies:
- Facilitating communications among employers and training resources; identify specific provider recruitment and training needs
- Compiling and distributing demographic information, employer-defined skill standards, recruitment methodology and curricula
- Coordinating training programs with state agencies such as PA CareerLink and non-government workforce development organizations
- Promoting awareness among secondary school students, displaced employees and career counselors of healthcare career opportunities
HIP Projects:
- First ever strategic plan for Industry Partnerships, focusing on issues to be addressed over a multi-year period
- Recruitment and screening of dislocated and low income workers
- PA Fund for Workforce Solutions grantee, implementing an innovative entry-level worker pilot designed to impact retention and advancement through job coaching strategies
