Industry Partnerships (IPs) bring together regional employers, economic developers, labor leaders, and educators to improve the competitiveness of businesses and organizations sharing similar products or services. The partnerships help employers retain and recruit employees by identifying training needs, developing new career pathways, and aligning educational curricula to industry demands. More than 400 hundred companies representing 11 industry clusters participate in Industry Partnerships in northwestern Pennsylvania.
In 2009-2010 the Northwest Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board received a total of $650,000 in the following grants for Industry Partnerships from the PA Department of Labor & Industry:
- Advanced Diversified Manufacturing Industry Partnership
- Great Lakes Building and Construction Trades Industry Partnership
- Healthcare Industry Partnership
- Technology Industry Partnership
