The mission of the Technology Industry Partnership of Northwest Pennsylvania (Tech IP) is to help introduce advanced technologies to a spectrum of industry segments for improved opportunities and competativeness. Tech IP aims to identify emerging technologies that affect total cost of operation, to define employers needs for IT and telecommunications, and to aid in developing a curriculum for radio frequency identification device (RFID) implementation and completion.
Tech IP Strategies:
- Monitoring emerging technologies, potential applications and new markets for regional manufacturers
- Assisting businesses in applying RFID technology for supply chain compliance cost reduction efforts; manging incumbent worker training grants detailing the intended delivery model of RFID curriculum development
- Identifying IT and telecommunications gaps and needs across all regional tech businesses and manufacturers

Tech IP Results:
The Tech IP includes 34 partners, 19 of which are employers. Approximately 75 individuals were trained by the close of the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
Among members of Tech IP are representatives from the healthcare, plastics, metals, information technology, telecommunications and food processing industries. Tech IP has contributed to the development of curriculum and professional opportunities in IT, telecommunications, eMarketing and Radio Frequency Identification and is assisting in forming a new Bio-Medical Device Manufacturing/Life Sciences focus.
