Adult Programs

Way to Work

Pennsylvania Way to Work is a statewide initiative that will provide 100 percent gross wage subsidies for private, not-for-profit and public employers.
 
Through Pennsylvania Way to Work, the departments of Labor & Industry and Public Welfare will use federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF Emergency funds available through the federal Recovery Act to provide an estimated 20,000 employment opportunities for youth and adults through Sept. 30, 2010.  Materials on the Way to Work program can be obtained here.

Employers are urged to call 1-866-858-2753 for more information on participating in the Pennsylvania Way to Work Program or reach out to your local PA CareerLink® Regional Office.

 

WIA Adult & Dislocated Worker Programs

The Greater Erie Community Action Committee (GECAC) and Partners for Performance are the principal contractors for federal WIA Title I programs. These groups coordinate Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and WIA benefits for dislocated workers, including intensive case management, on-the-job training opportunities, job search and relocation allowances, income support, and other assistance to workers who are laid off or whose hours of work and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports. Complementing these are Senior Community Service programs serving elderly people living in Clarion, Crawford, Forest, Venango, and Warren Counties.

Career Advancement Accounts (CAA)

Introduced in 2007, the Career Advancement Account Federal Pilot Project enables current and future workers to gain the education and training necessary to successfully enter, navigate, and advance in emerging jobs. The accounts provide up to $3,000 to workers in need of new skills to remain employed or to advance in their fields. Individuals must use their accounts to pay for expenses directly related to education and training, and may be used with a variety of training and education providers, including community colleges, trade schools, and technical schools.
