Erie Keystone Innovation Zone
The purpose of KIZ Erie is:
-To assist in the creation of startups
-To innovate within existing companies
-To commercialize knowledge at Universities
The KIZ Zone was established in June of 2005 by the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority upon the recomendation of the Keystone Innovation Zone Council. The Council's primary focus was to strengthen areas of the City of Erie adjacent to Gannon University that possess low rent space ideal for business incubation and to support the Knowledge Park Industrial facility on the campus of Penn State Behrend. The zones boundaries are the Downtown Improvement District, the 12th Street Industrial Corridor, the SB3 Industrial Park, 1525 East Lake Road and Knowledge Park Members: Technology Council of Northwest PA, Ben Franklin Technology Partners CNP, SCORE Chapter 193, Gannon Small Business Development Center, Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership, Gannon University, Mercyhurst College, Edinboro University, Penn State Behrend, City of Erie, Department of Economic Development, Great Erie Industrial Development Corporation, The Center for eBusiness & Advanced IT, NWIRC, Erie Technology Incubator, Pennsylvania Angel Network
